WARD 8 COUNCILMEMBER MARION BARRY NAMES KEITH ANDREW PERRY '86 AS NEW CHIEF OF STAFF

(Washington, DC) Ward 8 Councilmember Marion Barry today announced Keith Andrew Perry as his new Chief of Staff.

Perry, formerly his Legislative Director, is a native Washingtonian and 1986 graduate of Morehouse College and the Howard University Law School. While at Morehouse, he served a the President of the Morehouse SGA. He is a veteran of District of Columbia government and politics having been appointed by former Mayor Sharon Pratt Dixon as Special Assistant to the Director of the Department of Human Rights and Minority Business Development, and as Administrator of Community Services for the DC Department of Recreation and Parks. He is a former Senior Executive with the national staff of the League of Women Voters, and served as Executive Director of the Consortium for Youth Services, Inc. Most recently Perry served as Chief of Staff to D.C. City Councilmember Kwame R. Brown, before exploring a campaign for the Ward 6 Council Seat. He returned to the council as Legislative Director for Councilmember Barry in May of this year.

Mr Perry replaces Dr. E. Faye Williams, Esq. as Chief of Staff. Dr.Williams, who has served as Barry's Chief of Staff since May, has submitted her resignation citing a need to spend more time in her role as President of the National Congress of Black Women, Inc. The resignation was a mutually agreed upon and is effective immediately.

Councilmember Barry stated: "I am personally going to miss Faye's knowledge and insight on my staff. She was a steadying influence and assisted me immeasurably in the advancement of my legislative agenda. She helped me in my most recent campaign and has been a long time friend. Assuming the role as President of the National Congress of Black Women, succeeding Dr. C. DeLores Tucker, she is required to be out of town frequently to head this national organization. Keith Perry has done an exceptional job moving our legislative efforts forward. Moreover, as a former Council Chief of Staff, he won't miss a beat in his new role."
