Major Otha Thornton, '89
Major Otha Thornton, son of Estelle Winkfield, a 1989 Morehouse College graduate
and President of the Class of 89 has been selected to serve at the White House
Communications Agency, as Director of Military Human Resources.  He will serve as
the Joint Military Human Resource Manager for a 900 personnel
nominative/selectively manned Joint unit in direct support of the President and
Vice President of the United States, First Lady, National Security Council, and
White House staff.  Principal staff advisor on all military/civilian human
resource, assignment, recruitment, training, and administrative issues.
Responsible for the supervision and health/morale of 25 Army, Navy and Air Force
personnel. Coordinates and monitors all personnel/human resources related actions
with Service Personnel Bureaus (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast
Guard) and regional Civilian Personnel Assistance Center. Also functions as
Presidential Communications Event Officer providing
secure and nonsecure telecommunications, automation, and audiovisual service to the
President, United States Secret Service, White House staff, and White House Press.
He will begin his duties this June.
