Caesar Grant Hill (1926-1984) was a member of the
Morehouse College Class of 1949. At a very early time in the history of the DC
Chapter of the Morehouse College Alumni Association, Caesar Hill was elected
Treasurer and served in that position until his untimely death.
Caesar Hill is
one of the most respected and popular alumni of the DC Chapter of all time.
Everyone remembers him as being bright, efficient, dedicated to Morehouse
College and the Alumni Association, generous with the time he devoted to
Morehouse matters, full of integrity and a leader everyone respected.
The
Treasurer's position expanded under Caesar Hill because of his efficiency and
leadership qualities. The annual dance sponsored many years by the Chapter was
known as Caesar's Dance because of his influence over the management of the
event. No one is more deserving or worthy than Caesar Hill to lend his name to
the Chapter's endowed scholarship fund.
The Caesar Hill Endowed Scholarship
Fund is located at, and is managed and administered by, Morehouse College. Only
Morehouse juniors and seniors from the Washington, DC, area are eligible to
participate in the fund. Successful recipients may receive up to $2,000 a year
and juniors may repeat in their senior year. All Chapter fund raising
activities help to finance the scholarship fund. Our goal is to endow the fund
for at least $1 million.
